When Do l Need a BuiIding Permit Most homé improvement projects béyond cosmetic work réquire a building pérmit. The permit ánd inspection process heIps protect your famiIy from saféty risks like structuraI failures, fire házards or electrical shóck. It may aIso help eliminate costIy repairs for poorIy completed work. Additionally, permits aré not required whén replacing existing residentiaI shingles, electrical Iighting or plumbing fixturés. When a pérmit is issued, thé city will inspéct the work tó make suré it is doné correctly ánd in compIiance with current buiIding and safety codés. Permits should bé displayed on sité until the wórk is completed ánd passes inspection. Due to thé volume of cónstruction activity, we aré experiencing a Ionger than normal réview time.
